Editing a folder

The Edit Folder page allows you to modify the name, search settings, and security settings assigned to a selected directory node.

When you edit the Status of a folder, Edit Folder can cascade the change to all of the folders and assets below the folder. If there are more than 500,000 assets and folders below the folder, the length of the process may not finish and may cause data or program errors. You may consider making the task smaller by editing the status of the folder’s subfolders separately and cascading those changes, and then editing the folder’s status.

Changing the access level for a folder can make the contents of the folder inaccessible to patrons, depending on their access level.

If you copied the selected folder from another folder in the hierarchy, the folders are not linked, even if you linked the child assets in the selected folder to the child assets in the original folder. Modifications you make to the selected folder are only made to that folder.
