Exporting assets

Exporting assets lets you prepare a group or hierarchy of assets to be downloaded. Exported assets are combined together with the metadata and hierarchical structure in a *.tar file, which is compressed in a gzip (*.gz) file.

User-created metadata fields will be included in the asset export file and will be imported if those assets are imported into another system.

To export assets

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Choose Assets from the navigation pane.
  3. Choose Import/Export Assets.
  4. Choose Export Assets.
  5. Type a name to identify the export and select the options you want. For more information, see Fields: Export Assets.
  6. Under Directory, locate and select the folder from which you want to export assets.

Note: You can specify how deep in the hierarchy to export assets. For example, you can export only the assets in the selected folder, or you can export the assets and directory structure for all subdirectories under the folder.

  7. Choose OK to create the job or Cancel to return to the Assets pages without exporting the assets.

When you click OK, the Export History page opens. From here you can download the exported assets or delete the job from the list. Export History displays all the jobs that have been created by you and other administrators, but lets you download only the jobs that you have created. For more information, see Fields: Export History.
