Managing deleted assets and directory nodes
When you delete a digital asset or a directory node (folder), the asset or folder is removed from the digital asset hierarchy and placed in a special location for deleted assets and directory nodes. This special location is a holding area that prevents you from accidentally deleting the asset or folder permanently from the system. This holding area is like the “trash can” or “recycling bin” on many computer systems. Deleted items stay in the holding area or “trash can” until you retrieve the items, or you permanently purge the items from the system.

You cannot purge assets that were harvested from an OAI-PMH site unless you have deleted the harvest site (for more information, see Deleting an OAI-PMH site). |
|
You cannot purge a folder that you have assigned to a room until you remove it from the room (for more information, see Removing assets from a room). |
The Deleted Assets page is used to manage the deleted assets and folders in the holding area. Options on this page allow you to remove the deleted items permanently from the system, or to restore them to the locations from which they were deleted in the digital asset hierarchy.
