Adding or editing a federated search target
When you add or edit a federated search target, you specify which databases on the federated search host that you want to connect to, and how you want Portfolio to interpret the data that is returned from the federated search target. When you specify how you want Portfolio to interpret the returned data, you can specify the Z39.50 set, qualifier, search element set, record character set, and record syntax for each federated search target.

Every search target must have at least one search result display associated with it. When you add a Discovery or federated search target, a new default search result display is created automatically. |
To add or edit a federated search target
- Login to the Admin console.
- Choose Federated Configuration.
- Choose Federated Search Sources.
- Choose the Search Targets option next to the search source for which you want to configure search targets.
- Choose Add Target to add a new search target, or choose the Edit option next to the target that you want to edit.
- Complete the fields, as necessary. For more information, see Fields: Add/Edit Z39.50 Search Target , or Fields: Add/Edit Reserve Source, or Fields: Add/Edit EDS Target.
- Choose OK to save your changes, or choose Cancel to discard your changes and return to Search Targets.
