Adding or editing a Discovery search target

Once you have set up a Discovery search source and any associated source sites, you can create a corresponding search target to allow patrons to search against the Discovery search source. When you create a Discovery search target, you specify the Discovery search sources that the search target will use. After you create a Discovery search target, you must assign it to a profile to make it available for patrons to search.

Every search target must have at least one search result display associated with it. When you add a Discovery or federated search target, a new default search result display is created automatically.

To add or edit a Discovery search target

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Choose Search Configuration from the navigation pane.
  3. Choose Discovery Search Targets.
  4. Choose Add Discovery Search Target, or choose the Edit option next to the Discovery search target that you want to edit.
  5. Complete the fields, as necessary. For more information, see Fields: Add/Edit Discovery Search Target.
  6. Choose OK to save your changes, or choose Cancel to discard your changes and return to Discovery Search Targets.
  7. If you want, you can make the search target available to a specific profile. For more information, see Making search targets available for specific profiles.
